Our Schererville team held a Kindness Rocks event at the Munster Humane Society!
General Manager Ryan Buckmaster put James Mayen in charge of the event, since it was a passion project of his. Ryan had high praise for James, saying that he killed it and shouted him out for the great job he did in getting everyone together and making the event happen.
Here’s what Ryan added about the experience of this Kindness Rocks outing –
“Our Kindness Rocks event was voted on by the staff. Everyone was so excited to be able to donate their time and energy to the Munster Humane Society. Although the work consisted of getting our hands dirty by cleaning up the property, pulling weeds, and mowing and cleaning the dog’s play areas, the team took it in stride and did an amazing job!
The work was hard, and it was scorching hot outside, but there wasn’t a single complaint from the team. All they cared about was being able to make the lives of these shelter animals better. The shelter wanted us to focus on cleaning a garden bed and an area for families to hang out with their potential future pets. They did not expect us to be able to complete the job because of how overgrown the area was, but the team was so fired up and inspired that we were able to get that job done in an hour and move on to other tasks!!
I was blown away by everyone’s desire to make the biggest impact possible in our given time frame. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to not only serve the shelter but also strengthen our team’s bond while making the shelter more beautiful by creating an amazing space for families for fall in love with their future pets. Our collective goal was to ease the lives of these beautiful animals in the shelter in hopes they can make it out into new families.
I was so inspired by my team’s effort, excitement, compassion, and desire to do another event. Ram Dass said it best, ‘Compassion is the basis of all truthful relationships. It means being present with love for ourselves, and for all life, including animals, fish, birds and trees. Compassion is bringing our deepest truth into our actions no matter how much the world seems to resist, because that is ultimately what we have to give this world and one another.”
A fantastic quote to summarize a day that was truly impactful, highlighted by an outstanding effort from the entire team! It’s inspiring to see such care put forth toward making a real impact in their community and in the lives of the animals the shelter houses.
Hats off to the Schererville team for a strong reminder why Kindness Rocks and how we’re all able to make a difference through effort, will, and teamwork.
