Schaumburg held their first Connections meeting since COVID
As a refresher, Connections are a program we introduced in 2018 that honors our tradition of providing opportunities for personal growth to every team member. You can here more about the program here.
Nine team members attended the meeting, a fantastic turnout for the first Connection held in more than two years. The connection was led by Manager Michelle Bardo, with the rest of the management team, Kerri Syperski, Shannon Feld and Ella Hjerpe also in attendance. Kerri made a delicious breakfast of French toast, sausage and potatoes.
The day began with a staff check-in through SASHET. The staff were participating and engaged throughout the entire process.
“It was cool to see them using SASHET and understanding how important it is to use a feeling instead of ‘okay’ or ‘good,” Bardo said. “After the meeting, the staff asked to keep their SASHET material so they could be reminded to use their feelings.”
A few of the girls even took the SASHET bookmark and posted it around all departments in the restaurant. They were excited to learn there will be more Connection meetings throughout the year.
“Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions,” Bardo said. “Feelings are something you have, not something you are.”
All team members who attended the Connections meeting completed an anonymous survey, with 100% of attendees saying they would recommend it to a coworker. It was rewarding feedback for the management team to receive.
“I feel grateful that managers care about the feelings of employees,” one team member said.
“It felt meaningful and honest,” said another team member when asked what they liked best about their connections experience.
It’s great to once again have Connections back in our stores, and we look forward to many more great meetings in the near future.
