As we continue our year-long celebration of Lou Malnati’s 50th Anniversary, we want to celebrate the people who made it all happen and the moments that make Lou’s so special. We cannot express enough how grateful we are each day for our wonderful team members whose care and hard work keeps us going. We appreciate every single one of you guys!
To go along with our 50th-anniversary festivities, our 50th Anniversary Committee put together a contest for our Lou’s team. All you had to do was share with us some of your favorite Lou’s memories, photos, videos, or written stories and a winner would be chosen to spend a weekend getaway in their home market!
We love hearing stories from members of our Lou’s family about the positive impact Lou’s has made on their life. Additionally, we just love hearing stories in general about the happy memories made at our stores and within our community.
To keep our Lou Malnati family close, relationships and connection are deeply valued. It is important to us that we invest time and care into our employees so we can create an uplifting and positive working environment. A story shared by Cat Deluca portrayed the mentorship we take pride in. She said, “Danny & Sarah invested in me to help me get where I am today in the company. They invested a lot of themselves into me. I can’t ever thank them enough!” She also added on that her favorite memory was participating in Kindness Rocks, since that event represents how valuable teamwork is in the work environment. It was also a cool experience for her since, at that time, Danny was her manager and now they are on the same management team at Oakbrook 3 years later!
Melissa Kramer, who has worked at Buffalo Grove for 8 years, also explained how much Lou’s means to her. Working at Lou Malnati’s was Melissa’s first job and she said the bonds she created there makes her think that she may never be able to leave! She values the relationships created between coworkers, managers, and regional managers and she noted how invested they are in how she’s doing with life, school, and at the restaurant.
The Lou Malnati’s community is very tight knit, some even ask each other to prom! The Tinley Park team reminisced on when Karl Krueger asked Alexis Abanis to prom with a fun poster, and then actually stopped by the restaurant on prom day!
Going even further than prom, some team members actually get married! Margaret Anderson from Elk Grove shared how Lou’s brought her many wonderful things in life, but the most important was her Husband. She met Eliseo at the restaurant and 36 years later he is still working in Elk Grove, married to Margaret, and they have a family!
Thank you so much to the people who submitted their stories and memories, we enjoyed reading them all and looking through the photos. We are so thankful to have such an amazing team and we are excited to continue celebrating our 50Th anniversary!
