We care deeply for our team members, and want to make sure you never have to choose between your health and your job. Therefore we have implemented an Emergency Paid Sick Leave policy that will be in effect only for the current COVID-19 situation, and is available to all Lou Malnati’s employees. This temporary policy will allow team members who are diagnosed with COVID-19, or are directly exposed with prolonged contact to a family member who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, to receive emergency pay for up to 14 days, even if they are not showing symptoms.
There are two other important parts of this policy in determining when it can be activated. Team members who are sick with COVID-19 symptoms, including fever, cough and shortness of breath, must stay home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. These team members are eligible for emergency pay for missed, scheduled shifts for up to three days.
In addition, the policy can be used by team members who are advised to take extra precautions with the COVID-19 outbreak, including people who are 60 years and older, who have underlying health conditions (heart disease, lung disease or diabetes), who have weakened immune systems, or who are pregnant. These team members, should they choose to self-isolate, are eligible for up to 14 days of emergency pay with a doctor’s noted recommendation.
This policy allows affected team members to receive this emergency pay, and then they will be able to use any additional benefits they have, such as paid sick time, vacation pay, or medical leave. The actual Emergency Paid Sick Leave policy will be sent soon for you to review in detail.
