Today, we are excited to announce our Lou Malnati’s Scholar Dollar Recipients for the 2022-2023 academic year!
Lou Malnati’s Scholar Dollars is a part of our Kindness Rocks initiative, specifically our tradition of generosity, where we invest in our team members’ college education.
Read on for a glimpse at what our eight recipients are studying, why they enjoy working for Lou Malnati’s, and what this scholarship meant to them.
Mikayla Grell
“Receiving the Malnati Scholar Dollars scholarship meant a lot to me because it reassured me that I am responsible and a hard worker. It also went to show that if I work hard for the things I want, I can achieve my dreams. Additionally, receiving this scholarship has motivated me to succeed in college and make my friends, family, coworkers, and myself proud.”
Mikayla is attending Bradley University and plans to major in Nursing.
Michael “Jersey” Bird
“I am very honored to receive a scholarship from Lou Malnati’s, as it was honestly my home away from home for the past 2 years. My time working at Lou’s rarely felt like a job because I not only loved talking and working with my coworkers, but also getting to know many of our customers. Every time I walked into my store, I felt a sense of freedom and often looked forward to going to work. The training process and management at Lou’s was top notch and I couldn’t be happier or prouder to have worked at the Glendale, Arizona store. I struggle to imagine myself having worked anywhere else as my first job. To me, Lou Malnati’s was filled with support at work while also encouraging me to further myself and my education for my future. It was my second family. To have been awarded a Lou Malnati’s scholarship was amazing, as it is helping contribute to my college education at Arizona State University and helping me to pursue my dreams.”
Michael is attending Arizona State University and plans to major in Finance.
Gabriela Fiedor
“I am incredibly honored for being awarded the Lou Malnati’s College Scholarship. I would like to thank Lou Malnati’s for their sincere contribution to my personal and educational development. Receiving this scholarship allows my dream of becoming an chemical engineer, come true!”
Gabriela is attending the University of Iowa and plans to major in Chemical Engineering.
Maddie Karlovsky
“Receiving the Scholar Dollars Scholarship meant a lot to me. Working for Lou Malnatis for the last 2.5 years has taught me so much about myself and has helped me grow as an individual in the work environment. I am forever thankful for this opportunity!”
Maddie is attending Arizona State University and plans to major in Marketing.
Shreya Pothi
“Receiving this scholarship will help me pursue my dreams of becoming a researcher for genetic diseases and allowing patients get better healthcare. I am so grateful to have received this scholarship and want to thank everyone that played an important role in helping me achieve this.”
Shreya is attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and plans to major in Genetics & Cell Biology.
Allison Potpora
“When I received the Lou’s scholarship, I felt extremely grateful to have people that are not only looking out for me now but people who are looking out for my future as well. My coworkers and my bosses are the reason I have stayed at Lou’s for so long and I cannot wait to get back to work come fall and winter break!”
Allison is attending Indiana University and will begin as Exploratory major.
Katie Trunda
“Whenever I was at work or outside of work, I always felt that I was a part of the Lou Malnati’s family. It’s a family that was welcoming and strived to create a friendly, positive environment rather than a basic work environment surrounded by coworkers I hardly knew.”
Katie is attending Marquette University and plans to major in Finance.
Jordan Karson
“Everyone at Lou’s is super supportive and friendly! The managers are always helpful and I met some of my closest friends while working there.”
Jordan is attending William Rainey Harper College
