A Thanksgiving Note

A member of the Lou’s Crew here at the Home Office, EJ, wanted to share a Thanksgiving note.

“Thanksgiving is a day for many things, but it is more than a big early morning parade, or a day filled with endless food and football. It is a time for friends and family to gather together from near and far, spend time with one another, and deepen our relationships with those closest to us over turkey, no matter how it is prepared. Now, we can debate on smoked turkey vs fried turkey vs baked turkey or even grilled turkey later… but I think we all can agree, that the night before the traditional dinner, we give our ovens and mixers a rest, bandage our burns, and order pizza!

Ordering a pizza the day before Thanksgiving has become an unofficial tradition over the last 15 years for my family and has become one of the busiest nights in our restaurants and carry out locations. Chances are if you’re reading this, you already know how good a large deep-dish pizza tastes and long for that distinctive and exceptional Lou Malnati’s aroma to consume your kitchen. Lou Malnati’s pizza is more than food – it brings families together and calm to the chaos. A large deep-dish pizza with fresh mozzarella and thick, carefully curated, tomato sauce can revive any weary traveler and warm the heart (and belly) of those friends or family that have moved away. It is the taste of sweet home Chicago and a thoughtful reminder, that although they cannot be with us around the table, that they are with us in spirit.

Thanksgiving truly is a day for many things. Perhaps, most importantly, it gives us an opportunity to engage with family members in a very intentional way. The bond of family and friends is one of the strongest connections two people can share, stronger than our cheese to our world renowned crust, and November 28^th is the perfect day to reflect and give thanks for this crazy thing we called life and all the important people that make it so special. Personally, I am thankful for my health, family and friends and working for the greatest pizza company on the planet!

Thank you to each and every one of you for letting us into your kitchens, hearts, and homes and allowing us to be a part of your family for the past 49 years. We feel honored to have played a small part in creating lasting memories and new traditions with the ones you love.
